Colorado Bound

Today, I'm boarding a plane (without kids in tow) to visit my friends in Colorado.  This is the first time I've left Michael with the kids for days at a time. We'll see how he does! I'm sure he'll be fine and tell me how perfect all the girls behaved for him (they do that for their Daddy).

Beginning in 1999 when she moved back to CO after our freshman year at ASU, my friend Kelly and I flew back and forth between Arizona and Colorado to visit each other. Generally, we each tried to visit once (which gave us 2 weekends a year together). Obviously after our move to CO in 2009, these trips weren't required any longer. I could just jump in the car and go see her and her kids if I needed to!

It feels so strange to go back to this routine of flying back and forth to see one another.  She came in April with baby Cooper (whom I forced her to bring) and I am already ready for our next visit. For Christmas, M and the girls got me a gift card for a flight to CO and I'm ready to use it. I'm ready to see the group of girls that I became friends with during my 2 years there. I'm meeting Kelly, Brie, Amy, Ann, Magan, Stephanie and Alexis out for dinner and drinks at The Med tonight. PS. You gotta love when your long distance friends engage in social media so you can pretend you're still part of their lives from another state away!

YESSIR! Today is the day.

Unfortunately, it seems that the entire state of Colorado is on fire right now.

14 fires are burning as I type. Big ones in Ft. Collins (where M used to work) and Colorado Springs. I know this is not new news but people's homes are burning. Can you even imagine? Families are displaced.

I hope the rain comes and it comes hard. I'm praying for Colorado. Not the best circumstances to be having a girls weekend under, but we're going to try to make the best of it.
