Halloween Decor

Halloween. It's not my favorite holiday. I can't decide if that's because I don't like scary stuff or the fact that we didn't really celebrate when I was a kid (we went to the "Harvest Festival" instead of trick or treating when I was growing up). I really hate scary stuff though, so I'm leaning toward that. Halloween has kind of a bad rap in the Christian circle, which I get. I'm not exactly out to celebrate or make light of witches, evil, devils, death, etc., which many celebrations do.

I do, however, like the idea of dressing up and want to take the girls trick-or-treating in their costumes every year. There's no reason October 31st has to be based around the dark parts of the holiday, right? We can lighten our Halloween up!

I decided I was going to do a little decorating this year and with the help of my 3 bambinos, we set out to do just that. Check out what we came up with:
We got most everything at Michael's this year. They had such a cute offering of sparkly Halloween gear. I did have to go to a couple of different stores to find all of the pieces.

How great is that black candelabra with purple sparkle taper candles? The girls picked out the glitter spiders (hard to see in this picture), crawling around on it. Addy picked up that "boo" right off the shelf and promptly dropped it on the floor in the store. WHOOPS! I figured that meant she wanted that to be her contribution to the mantle. For the record, they didn't make me pay for 2! Yay, Michaels.

I made this print with a brush pattern I bought last year and a really great Bible verse. Psalms 23:4. I think it's pretty perfect for a God-Loving-Halloween-Celebrating family!

Here's a better look at the print. I'd share it with you guys, but I don't think I'm allowed to since I purchased that brush pattern. Bummer.
I need some more Halloween decorating ideas that are light on the scary. Know of any?

Well, if you're putting up YOUR Halloween decorations that means I can put up MY Halloween decorations! Mine are a mix of scary and not. Maybe make some cute bunting in your colors?
